For this one-of-a-kind event, we are very proud to be partnering with the Friends of American Lake Veterans Golf Course in Lakewood. This cause is near and dear to our heart because Jim Martinson, Vietnam Veteran and Friends of American Lake Veterans Golf Course Board Member, is a Sumner native and graduate of our very own Sumner High School.
The course, a non-profit corporation run solely by volunteers, is located in Pierce County and helps Veterans find physical and emotional renewal through the great game of golf. The Open in Sumner event will not only help bring awareness to the Nation’s only golf course designed specifically for the rehabilitation of wounded and disabled Veterans, but through your participation in the event, the City of Sumner will donate the event’s proceeds to help build the Course’s “Jack Nicklaus New Nine”! Help us celebrate golf and this course of courage by being part of the Open in Sumner.
